21 Days of Prayer - Day 14 - Saturday,  August 20, 2022  Open Your Eyes & Look At the Field

We pray first!  That’s a rally cry for us.  Prayer is a weapon not a last resort. It’s my first response. Everything we do about prayer is intentional.

We have 21 Days of Prayer in January. It’s the first thing we do at the start of the year.

We have a Sunday morning prayer team that prays before the service. We pray with our Dream Team before the service. We pray first.

What do we pray for in August?  Souls! For a great harvest!

Michelle and I live in between farmers and watch them get ready for the harvest in the natural realm and this gives us fuel to pray for a harvest in the spiritual realm.

Jesus is ministering to this woman at the well of Jacob.

John 4:27-35 (NIV)

27 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”

32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”

33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”

34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

They keep putting off the work, but Jesus says to them “open your eyes and look at the fields.”

If God answered all my prayers would it change the world or just change me?

So in August we pray for lost people. At BLC we have a prayer card for us to pray for lost people. “Prayers for God’s Promises” which is code for praying for lost people.

If Jesus could tell you what He sees, 4 billion people who are lost. Jesus cares for those that are far from God, they are lost.

So open your eyes and let’s look to the fields of a fall harvest.
