S. Acts 16:14 “One of those listening was awoman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshipper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.”
O. Paul was faithful to follow God’s leading to Philippi. He attended a meeting outside the city. As Paul preached, Luke writes that “the Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.”
God touches people. He prepares people. He can open doors (hearts) that were previously closed. What the Lord wants from us is to faithfully share His word and allow Him to touch the heart, mind and spirit of others. He will use us in all situations. This situation was a gathering outside the city of Phiiippi, a prayer meeting. In my thinking Paul was coming to pray and share a word with a small gathering and it led to this woman’s salvation.
A. I will continue to preach and share God’s word with others, whether it’s at Better Life Church, or a funeral, a wedding, or a gathering the park or my home. I know that God will do his part (open the hearts and minds of othes to respond to the Gospel of Jesus) if I will do mine - faithfully share His word!
P. Thank you Father for your word today. Thank you for the reminder that you are the one who can open hearts that were closed. Lord Jesus I pray that as I share your word, you will continue to open hearts that others might respond and receive you as their Savior. In Jesus’ name!
