S. Acts 24:24-26 24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.” 26 At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.
O. Felix set up frequent meetings with Paul hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe. However, it is Paul who demonstrates integrity in not giving in to opportunities that might potentially have served in his own best interest. Rather, Paul stays on task sharing God’s Word.
A. I pray that I can maintain such integrity in moments of choice - that my own personal comfort can be set aside for allowing Christ’s character to be formed in me - that I can keep integrity, vision and focus in staying on task in preaching and teaching God’s Word.
P. Thank you Father for Paul’s example of integrity in a secnerio in which he might have personally benefitted by bribing the governing authority - he did not! Holy Spirit fill me and guide me to serve you with such integrity - That I will be committed to Christ’s character being formed in me at the expense of my own personal comfort. In Jesus’ name!
