Day 9 January 17, 2022
Prayer Focus: Great Faith - MY Faith
1 Thessalonians 3:2,10 (NIV) We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, ….. (v.10) Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.
The question for us to ponder in prayer is, “Lord, what is lacking in my faith?”
What is lacking in my faith?
Jesus prayed for Peter’s faith as Satan desired to sift him but Jesus prayed for Peter’s faith.
Luke 22:31-32 31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. 32 But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”
The Apostle Paul instructs to look deeply at our own faith:
2 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV) Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
What does God want for you?
Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Your Purpose and to make a difference?
What is lacking in my faith?
Some questions to ask ourselves
1. Am I worshiping God intimately?
2. Am I connecting with others consistently?
3. Am I developing my gifts faithfully?
4. Am I ministering to others passionately?
If you want your faith to grow and not lack, it’s going to require a step. You will have to do something.
“Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
What step do I need to take? My faith step was stepping out and starting Better Life Church in Newaygo.
James 2:20-24 (NLT) 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?
21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. 23 And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”[a] He was even called the friend of God.[b] 24 So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.
