Day 19, January 21, 2021
Today’s Focus: Reaching Our Sphere of Influence
We need to keep our focus of reaching and influencing people around us.
Acts 1:8 (NLT)
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
God is counting on us to reach out where we can go.
There’s so many reasons we might claim that what keep us from reaching out, but we need a church and people to reach out.
In John 4 Jesus reaches out to the Samaritan woman at the well of Jacob. She’s a woman, she’s a half breed (Samaritan) and she wondered why He would be talking to her.
Jesus takes the conversation directly to her about her family and life. He lets her know that He cares for her regardless of what others might think.
Jesus then offers her Himself as the water that does not run out.
John 4:28-29 (NLT)
28 The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, 29 “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?”
She becomes “a bucket” filled with living water that she takes to her family and friends.
We need to let God use us as a bucket carrying the water of life to others.
You don’t have to be perfect.
You don’t have to be polished.
She wasn’t perfect but God used her. She wasn’t educated and trained, God used her as she was.
Like the blind man that was given sight. He said “I don’t know who He is, but all I can tell you is that once I was blind but now I can see.”
You don’t have to be prominent.
You just have to participate.
It is not in your performance, but in the power of the Holy Spirit when we participate in what God is doing.
You don’t even need to go off along way - just reach out to those around you.
Reaching your sphere could be an answer to someone else’s prayer.
Reaching your sphere could change someone’s life.
What seems small to you could be huge to others.
Two things to pray for today:
God give us eyes to see - the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.
God give us a heart to help - I don’t just want to see it, I want to help.
We cannot quarantine our faith and calling. Let’s reach out to our sphere of influence.
