21 Days of Prayer - Day 20 - Friday,  August 26, 2022   Common Things in Uncommon Ways

21 Days of Prayer - Day 20 - Friday,  August 26, 2022

Quote - “Do common things in an uncommon way and you will command the attention of the world.”  George Washingon Carver

This, I pray, is true of Better Life Church. We have or will have 52 worship services at Better Life Church on Sundays. We will have 12 Growth Track classes. We will have 52 times of Saturday prayer and we project we will have about 30 weeks of Bible Study classes, all on our new campus. That’s 146 days where we as the church try to guide our people and build up their faith. That leaves 219 days when we need to make sure we are doing common things in uncommon ways (praying, reading, etc.) to build up our faith.

Let’s call it Plan 219. That is we should plan 219 extra days to build up our faith and do common things in an uncommon way.

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3, 5 (NIV)

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. 2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

Four  takeaways from this passage. These should be part of our plan to grow and build up our faith (to command the attention of people and, I pray, of God too).

 1. Pray for Revival.

We hear this alot. But if we are going to do what is on God’s heart, we need to pray for lost souls, for people who are far from God.  Let’s commit to doing this each day.

“Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter” -  Charles Spurgeon.

We need to be all about souls.

2. Pray for Protection.

Paul says that we should pray for deliverance from the wicked and evil ones.

A prayer for protection would be Ephesians 6 - the Armor of God.

3. Pray for a Deeper Revelation of God’s Love.

Part of our spiritual journey is to recognize and grow in a deeper revelation of God’s love.

Nothing can thwart God’s love for us.

We need to continue to pray that God will move our hearts into His love.

4. Pray for Perseverance.

Also that our hearts would be moved into Christ’s perseverance.

God’s Word, God’s People.   Let’s get God’s Word into us and let’s build a team of people in every area of our ministry.

If we are going to persevere, we need to be in God’s Word and we need the relationships of others (teams) in our ministry.

As we go through Day # 20, let’s pray for Revival, Protection, Deeper Revelation of His love and for Perseverance of Christ.
