21 Days of Prayer - Day #20 August 27, 2021 Focus - Healing

Today is day 20 today we want to reflect on some scriptures to build our faith.

Sin and sickness are Satan’s twin evils to oppress us. Sickness can be more than physical, it can be spiritual, mental, and emotional.

Disease is everywhere where you have dis-ease.  Sin and disease always are seen together.

Psalm 103:2-3 (NIV)

2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—3 who forgives all your sins

    and heals all your diseases,

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Mark 2:1-12 (NIV)

3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

The paralyzed man on the mat is lowered in front of Jesus. The first Jesus said was “your sins are forgiven.”

------

Cessationism is a theological teaching that says that miracles and healings ceased when the word of God was completed and the last of the apostles died out.  - However I believe God is actively working miracles and healings

Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Why don't all people get healed?  My thought and short answer is, Jesus died and did away with sin, yet people still sin. He died and did away with sickness/disease, yet people still get sick.

Not everyone gets saved (yet that is God’s will) and not everyone experiences complete healing.  Why? That I don’t know. I know that God doesn’t work as a formula, doing one thing one way all the time.  But I would rather believe and pray for salvation and healing than not, trusting Him with the results.

Just as we work out our salvation and walk in fellowship with the Lord, asking for His forgiveness; we do the same with our sicknesses.

James 5:13-16 (NIV)

13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
