S. Matthew 20:26
25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
O. Jesus teaches His disciples that being a Christ follower is not about having or being in recognized positions of authority. Jesus shares and models the example of being a servant - being willing to subordinate to others, being willing not to be first and to serve others.
A. I will not seek positions of authority - I will let others be first and I will serve the needs of others. I do not do this naturally, I like to be first, It’s probably part of the competitor in me. But I will continue to trust the Lord and serve Him by serving others.
P. Thank you Father for this word and reminder to be a servant leader. Holy Spirit fill me, guide me and empower me to be a servant leader like Jesus. In Jesus’ name!
