Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
for in you I take refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.

to God, who vindicates me.

God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.

I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—

whose tongues are sharp swords.

6 They spread a net for my feet—
I was bowed down in distress.
They dug a pit in my path—
but they have fallen into it themselves.
7 My heart, O God, is steadfast,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.
O. In this Psalm, David describes being pursued by his enemies (he was running from Saul). But despite the situation, David paused and share that his heart was “steadfast” (unmovable, like a pillar). Because of the Lord’s presence in his lief, he could praise and sing of God’s love and faithfulness.
This reminded me of Paul and Silas (NT) in jail in Philippi. Though imprisoned, they were able to praise God through singing and lead many people to Christ.
God is able to give us a serenity, a peace, that stabilizes our hearts and allows us to praise him through tough times.
A. During these difficult times (quarantine) I will keep my focus on the Lord and allow His love and faithfulness to keep me (my emotions) in place (steadfast). I will use opportunities to sing and to worship of His love and faithfulness.
P. Thank you Father for your love and faithfulness. I desire to focus on you and not my circumstances. Grant me such peace as to sing and share with others of your love and faithfulness.
