21 Days of Prayer - Day 20 Prayer Focus: Healing - prayer for needs

Day 20, January 24, 2020

Prayer Focus:  Healing

Healing in OT and NT is same word of which we get our word “physician.”

Every part of us need to be healed. Our minds, bodies, souls and spirit.

1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

Jesus paid for all of my sins that I might die to my sins. That’s the hope.

The same is true about healing. By His wounds we are healed.

Just like I am dying to my sin nature and each day becoming more like Him; the same is true of my healing/sickness.

The devil has his twin words he uses, sin/sickness.

The Lord however counters with his two words salvation/healing

Psalm 103:2-3

Praise the Lord, my soul,

and forget not all his benefits—

who forgives all your sins

    and heals all your diseases,

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

The man lowered from the roof, your sins are forgiven and take up your mat and walk.

Some people may ask, “Why am I not healed?”

Why do people whose sins are forgiven, still sin?

Your sins are all paid for past , present and future.

Your sickness are all paid for past ,present and future.

We just need to walk it out. Just as we believe as we die to self, sin has less power over our lives, the same is true with our healing.  As we die to ourselves, disease loses its power over us just as sin does.

So we have faith to believe that God doesn’t want sin in my life and the same is true that we have faith to believe that God doesn’t want sickness in my life.

James 5:13-16 (NIV)

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

The oil has no power, but is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Often, symbols are used to move our faith forward.

What we need to do is to approach God in faith, believe Him for our healing and begin to walk it out, dying to ourselves and praying, trusting God to continue His work in our lives.
