Hearing God's Voice

HEARING GOD’S VOICE

S.

Habakkuk 2:1-3 New Living Translation (NLT)

2 I will climb up to my watchtower

   and stand at my guardpost.

There I will wait to see what the Lord says

and how he[a] will answer my complaint.

The Lord’s Second Reply

2 Then the Lord said to me,

“Write my answer plainly on tablets,

so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.

3 This vision is for a future time.

It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.

If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,

for it will surely take place.

   It will not be delayed.

O. Hearing God’s voice. Like Habakkuk, we can take a posture before God that enables us to hear His voice.

1.)Meet with the Lord regularly in a special place/time of prayer “climb the watchtower.”

2) Look for God to speak to you in dreams and visions (“There I will wait to see”)

3) Listen for the word of the Lord (“He will answer”)

4) Keep a journal of things that God says (“write my answer plainly”)

5) Wait for God to bring it to pass (“it will  surely take place”)(

A. I will continue to pray with expectation, read, listen, journal and wait so that I might more clearly discern God’s direction for me.

P. Thank you Father for this word. Grant me the wisdom to develop this discipline of hearing your voice so that it will not only produce fruit in my life, but so that others can be enriched as well. In Jesus name!
